  1. You are so very talented. I remember the little stories you wrote and illustrated after Elisabeth went to be with the Angels. Your talent shone brightly then. I wish you greater success than you ever dreamed or imagined possible!!!!

    • Thanks, Linda. You are so generous. I’m sorry the summer got away from me without us connecting. Maybe an evening next week? Or, the book launch? You could come back to the house after?

  2. I just finished the Clay Girl! It was remarkable. I cannot get Ari’s story out of my mind! Her resilience and beauty in the face of all she had to deal with. Thank you for such at spectacular work of fiction! Please write more!
    Best, Mary

    • Thank you, Mary. I appreciate so much you taking the time to send encouraging words. It really is an act of kindness when readers connect with writers to tell them their ‘clay girl’ is a good girl. I’m delighted that you enjoyed the story and since you said ‘please write more’ Ari’s journey will continue in the novel, Cracked Pots.

As in any birth, there is a gestation. If you like, you can meet some of my other imaginary friends while you wait for more Ari Appleton. They are hanging out under the ‘Short Stories’ tab.

  3. I am not even finished reading The Clay Girl and I know it is one of the best books I have ever read. Please, please publish more of your spectacular stories. Your words are a gift to your readers.

    • Thank you for the encouraging words, Risa. They are a gift. (And more is coming as soon as real life stops getting in the way of my imaginary friends.)

  4. I have been reading other reviews of your amazing book, Clay Girl. Luminous…breathtaking…brilliant… just some of the words used to describe your writing. I simply cannot find powerful enough words to describe how I felt reading your beautiful story. I await with great anticipation your next novel!

  5. I have never before been in a position where I kept delaying finishing a book because I didn’t want it to end. At one point towards the end I flipped to the front to see what other books Heather had written and instead found myself starting again at the beginning. I loved Ari’s wry way of talking about the horrors in her life, initially in ways that made me chuckle but later serious. It is quite an achievement to write on such a topic in a way that a reader can actually enjoy it.

    • Thank you, Denise, for your encouraging words. I’m delighted you enjoyed Ari so much that you took another trip around the block with her.

  6. Our book club read Clay Girl for this month’s meeting. Everyone loved the book and we are looking forward to the sequel. I could go on and on about how good the book was, but I doubt I can say anything you haven’t already heard.
Please keep writing as you have a great deal to share with your readers!

  7. I’ve read thousands upon thousands of books but never enjoyed a novel as much as The Clay Girl. Once I started I read till the end. Was spectacular. You will have thousands upon thousands of loyal readers waiting for your next novel. I’m off to buy what I can.

  8. I have read thousands upon thousands of books but never enjoyed a book as much as The Clay Girl. It was spectacular. I didnt put it down till I was finished. I’m certain you have thousands upon thousands of loyal readers waiting for your next novel. I’m off to buy what novels of yours I can find.

  9. Dear Heather. Clay Girl rocked my world and continues to sing through me when I need encouragement. I am eager for Cracked Pots. I hope she is blooming.
